Detailed Information:
This is an image of C/2006 M4 (Comet Swan), taken on October 30, 2006 from my backyard observatory. This is a simple Median combine of (16) 15-second luminance exposures centered on the nucleus of the comet with simple levels and curves applied. Because the comet moves with respect to the star field, the alignment had the effect of smearing the stars as illustrated in this image. While I wish that I had color imaging at the time, this simple image shows a lot of detail in the comet's tail.
