Detailed Information:
This is another product of the collaboration between Stephen T Roffo, Jr. and myself. As with M031, these images were taken by Stephen at the 2007 Black Forest Star Party in Cherry Springs State Park, PA. Afterward we collaborated back and forth to process the image posted here. The galaxy M033 was observed and discovered by Charles Messier on 25 October 1764. M033 is another member of our local galaxy group but it is only 1/3 the size of M031. In fact there is some thought that M033 orbits M031. As with M031, many star clusters can be seen, The large pink area in the upper right of the image is an H II region that has its own NGC designation, NGC 604.
